I’ve spent quite a few weeks and to be honest are just finishing off the transfer of the bulk of my web site clients. This move has happened due to many reasons but the main ones enabling me to focus on Humber TV and my clients getting a better service with the new ISP.

I have also been trimming back a lot of domain I *may* develop but have decided to take the dive and let a good batch drop by not renewing them. We are talking 100s of domains and not just say 5 or 6 and so is a big saving in outgoings for me.

This morning I battled with my JOBPress theme on JobsinHull.co.uk and it now doesn’t error at the checkout with Pay Pal. I flicked the ON switch and is now live to submit jobs to at just £1 for 30 days. This is at just £1 for feedback and suggestions and will review charges once I feel happy with the setup and running.

Going back to domains, I have also curbed registeringdomains and booking drop catches for them.  A few examples of recent ones are WilliamWilberforce.co.uk and HullHairdressers.co.uk both nice ones to own and develop as catches and WingMirrors.org.uk as a fresh reg.

The only websites ideally that I will still run will be personal ones or ones that are generating revenue from leasing or affiliation from Google and alike. Not looking at older posts on here I am looking at building revenue from these types of sites to at least £30 per day or £1k a month.  This would be an absolute minimum long term as 250 sites should at least make £1 per day which calculates to around £7500 a month.

With my main focus been on Humber TV getting al sites live and performing I may freelance out as my ideal goal for Humber TV is to cover events and generate at least £250 a day from producing short promo videos, marketing using videos and selling video content.

Just as an example do a search in Google for “Fish Spa Hull” what would you click on, on the results page?

The videos I’m guessing, the videos will always be there unlike, radio adverts, PR services, leaflets, News Paper advert, Adwords campaign and so on…..

The new way to advertise… Huumber TV

Looking at ways to always make extra pennies from mini sites I was surprised to see £4-5 from a broadband site I’d set up a few years back. Looking into this a little more broadband clicks pay quite well from £1 to £5+ which does make it worth while.

Broadband in general and even mobile broadband isn’t really a niche no more and so >Geo<broadband.co.uk sites do well as they haven’t been tapped into that much as your Talk Talk’s BT’s and Virgins cover the whole UK.

proving that it does pay well and works I bought 3 domains of cities over 100’000 in population and setup 3 mini sites with a simple html template.

Once they show up in Search Engines and have a bit of age I’ll add the to a WordPress install and make regular posts to them about the pit falls and tips of broadband etc.  I’ve lost my login for Affiliate window and so need to send an email so that I can also add affiliate links which do pay more money but they have to sign up to get the commissions

Luton, Bradford and Brighton been fairly large towns should prove a popular search group with people online and if proven a winner easily cloned  ( not the content the idea ;o) )

Need to rant so here’s 1

-start rant-

Why do people think just because the phone isn’t agaist their ear its ok to DRIVE and use a mobile by having it on speaker phone and holding it infront of them AGGGHhhhhh.

-end of rant-

As I always look at situations to see how they can be turned into profit, the snow and ice was a hard one but…..

I’ve noticed lots of gutting hanging off buildings / houses and thought they will need replacing in a week or so and decided to knock up a very quick single page website on “Guttering in Hull”.

HullGuttering.co.uk

I’m hoping as it is so niche that once indexed it will shoot to page one on search engines and get a few clicks to at least pay the domain reg fee back. I know for a fact businesses that fit guttering will have a busy few months ahead of themseleves!

Update: Since putting it LIVE it’s made £1 LOL but is on most phrases page 1, so we’ll see how it does when people start to call in the new year to get guttering fix or replaced.

Not to go into detail or go on about “Good, bad & Ugly” it seems as though the world is against me and nothing was letting up. Each day I thought (and still are)  what can possibly land on my lap today that will put me in a foul mood?

Google Instant  is maybe having an effect on my rev from Adsense, as it seems to be up and can see more of my local websites like HullExport.co.uk which never got any click through or revenue doing well and now getting traffic.

I really don’t want to rely on Google for a monthly revenue and still crave an Automated Revenue Stream of some kind besides Adsense. Maybe a digital download of some kind or automated service that needs minimal effort.

My latest project I’m hoping to push is my Joke Shop but also the JokeShop.TV which will show jokes in a video been used and so giving the buyer a great idea of how they work, look and can decide on whether to buy or not after watching the video.

I am a bit of a gadget freak and love new technology, with me offering a VoIP service to clients as an add-on I was interested to see if a Mobile Internet Dongle could be sufficient  for my Home use. So to run 2 laptops, a tower and 2 landline numbers the answer is YES – In my area we get around 1mb up and 1mb down on Three on a bad day with no aerial.

I ordered another package from Three as my current 3GB for £7.50 offer wouldn’t be enough for the month and so 15GB (500Mb per Day) for £15 seemed a good deal. The video above explains and shows you in more detail but basically this time next month I won’t have a landline with my current provider KCOM and Karoo. This saves us around £40+ a month and now could only pay £4 for the phone number and line and £15 for the Mobile broadband connection with Three.

I do work from home but do most of my heavy traffic when out and about at other locations. Within a week or so I should be able to see if this was a sensible change and will update here. I have tested the system for a few weeks and all works fine and think the system will work even better when I get an external aerial for the dongle.

Still not got an IPAD due to the £600+ price tag

With me feeling a little sorry for myself, I’m due some (maybe not luck) but rewards for my efforts as this self employment lark can be a bit time consuming and takes over your full life.

I’m still looking for people in the Humber area wanting to break into the HyperLocal game. I’ll set a domain, website etc up for you and then you run it adding images, videos, content but passing some of the content Humber.TV’s way!

Talking of video, You Tube is a good way to drum interest up to Local sites or any site thinking about it. Take a video of a local parade for example, post the first 2 minutes to You Tube and the full version to your site. In the description in the first line on You Tube paste a link to the full video and if the want to see more or are just wanting more in general they will click through.

My Son is Transport Tycoon mad which came from his addiction to Locomotion by Chris Sawyers. I bought Transport Tycoon Deluxe only to find it was Windows 95 and that old would not work on any operating system in the house, and even in compatibility mode.

Did lots of Google searches to find a resolve but felt I’d failed until I searched “TTD” ( Transport Tycoon Deluxe ) and found this site http://www.openttd.org/en/ which basically solved our issue and we now have a working program.

Download this program and browse to your CD/DVD drive when prompted for the data disk and it should all run through the wizard with no issues. Once installed you’ll have a working version thanks to a lot of people working together to bring this classic game back to life for newer operating systems.

Manual and WIKI on Transport Tycoon Deluxe -

Looking forward to HumberMUD on Thursday night at the Fruit Space down Humber Street in Hull, where I’ll hopefully catch up with a few people and meet like minded people in the online media world.

I’ve been asked to talk about Humber TV at one of the future ones and feel I need to push the site by posting to it daily with new events and news.  I don’t know why I missed the scooter ride across the Humber Bridge event at the weekend either #fail :o (

One of our video’s we produced as a podcast chat, paid off for them today as we replied to a request on Twitter asking for that service they offered and they ended up booking time with the guest that appeared. RESULT! Quote “She sounds Great” Hence Video is more powerful than an “About Us” page.

Placed a bit of Adsense code into HU17.net website through Paul Smith who runs it to see what the results would be revenue wise. The results are ok but the amount of traffic Paul gets is great with 1500+ daily unique visitors I could only dream of at Humber TV. This just confirms more events, more posts would give the site the push it needs.
