Attended a Hull and Humbers Chamber of Commerce speed networking and lunch today at Cave castle (FAB grounds complete with moat) and I realised I need to get out more.
I did use to go to a few networking events but was trying to promote web design and VoIP. Web design is saturated and VoIP people didn’t want to take or trial it.
So out this morning and people I spoke to warmed to the idea of my Humber.TV idea and concept which made me feel fuzzy inside! Also people came up to me and was saying “Are you Mr Humber TV?” again this was a little strange and almost felt like a celebrity
The Chamber hold a speed networking and lunch every month and WILL be going to every one from now!
On another note with Humber TV Valerie Prentice (our only host) is departing to France for a month and needed a stand in. Jess from Divine Clark PR was very interested as an extra permanent host and bagged 4 interviews next week at £50 a shot for advertising. “Result” I thought and hope she keeps her intro rate up.
This made me realise I need to up a gear with the whole Humber TV game and am now on the look out for more willing people to help out on a short term volunteering basis (hope to pay on invoice for their time ASAP). Wanting people who see the potential of the concept, are willing to stick with it and help out how they can to make it work/grow.
3 days till D day, D been DOG! “WOOF WOOF”
Adsense has nicely increased daily which is nice and aren’t sure if it’s with me adding new content on a few or just people looking on-line more leading up to gardening and getting out weather.
Needed to raise some funds and sold a few domains in the past week which in one way wish I never as I let them go for peanuts but altogether made a nice tidy sum to help out. Tried to sell my scuba gear too but think it may be harder than I think due to testing etc.
Signing off and catching some Zzzzzzz
Again another late night and feel I should take time to post here as not to let it slip into a stale state.
So I buckled and have let my partner get a puppy dog which is a cross between a poodle and a shiatsu (quite cute actually). A small chocolate brown “shoodle” I think they call it and it had best behave and not yap too much! ;o) That all happens on 2nd May so the world could end before then and won’t have to suffer having a yap yap yapping dog!
Humber.TV hmmmm Well lets just say it’s a FAB concept, people warm to it, it does “Bridge the gap” as our slogan says and guests think we’re doing a grand job
) But the thing is I’m lacking a few things to more forward – help, funding, sleep, day light and light at the end of the tunnel! This is due to the time taken up by myself setting live shows up, recording and streaming them live and then editing them ready for the site for on demand. Not to mention anything else involved in getting guests and running the site mechanics.
It has reached a point where I have been doing EVERY show LIVE and putting the webcam stream up straight away for on demand viewing after a quick edit (then when possible editing the HD camcorder shoot later). I now feel I need to go out and about to record items that arn’t LIVE but ARE up and viewable the same day. Again this is more of my time.
So 4 things I’m wanting interest for, from near and far around the Humber.
Do you meet or maybe smiled at any of the above requests? Then contact me through Humber.TV web site stating this blog. I then do hope we can work together to make the Web site work it’s ass off for the people/businesses of the Humber and make it a name people talk about.
Hopefully this will stop me going over the edge and ease my work addiction/need from 6:00am till very late every day and I may just be able to get a life and sleep back so I can enjoy the trip that Humber TV is taking us on.
Final Thought to self! I do have 100′s of Hull and other Geo service domains as mentioned before and really need to get my finger out and get them earning. Which if I did would earn I would say £60 a day between them all! Visit Hull Local to see the effort so far and one of the mini sites may fit your area of business.
Sorry if it’s all over this blog but been a long day/week ;o)
I do a lot of IT work looking after comapnies emails, websites and internet related stuff. One company had all new phones for their staff and on the VodaFone network. For a week after getting them, none could send emails on VodaFone’s network with iphones (worked ok on an office WiFi connection)
A bit of digging and a few phone calls later I found the fix as a alternate SMTP service through VodaFone themselves.
Go to www.360.com have a quick read the click the sign up for free link, making note of your username and password.
On your iphone go to Settings – Mail, Contacts, Calendars then select the account your having sending issues with and scroll down to SMTP
Click into the primary server and enter the below:
host name smtp.360.com
User name the one you created www.360.com
Password the one you createdat www.360.com
Turn Use SSL to ON
Authentication Password
Server Port 645
Using the above settings should stop any issues with VodaFone and sending emails through their service on the iphone.
Always on the look out for new niches, up and coming technologies that I can make mini sites for and hopefully build a platform ready for a company to buy/use from me.
Today I bought 11 Augmented Reality domains and quickly developed one to get indexed and be a test bed for a design and structure. Below are a few phrases have set aside and bought as .co.uk / .org.uk domains to develop. I have a few others not mentioned but have just web forwarded or redirected to the relevant domain/s.

AugmentedReality3D.co.uk was the first of the set and is live now and will be adding and changing each day/week. I usually build mini sites in WordPress but decided to save on Mysql Data bases and just bang one up using a html template.
I see augmented reality been big in the next 1 or 2 years as today it’s really only been used by most people as gimicks to find places and play mini games etc
In the next 2 years Goggles, Glasses, headsets, Games, and books will come in to our lives using the technoology of augmented reality and will become an every day on the go smart phone accessory. This is possible with smart phones built in GPS and solid state compass.
So April is here and I need a kick up the arse to get ideas focused!
I’ve been running around like a mad man this past 2-3 weeks juggling work, new projects and my little girl been in hospital. I just need to take stock.
Humber.TV is really doing well, considering I should be putting more hours in a week and now has a page rank of 2. The last webcast / podcast we recorded (still to edit the HD copy) was Cottingham Springboard and just loved the idea of musicians coming along who are in the 3 day music event and letting rip with some tunes. Bring it on people…
Ok about this “Recycle old magazine content”. I had a HTC Touch Diamond spare after an upgrade to a Iphone 3GS and gave it to my son to use but just stopped charging, even with a new battery. Today (Sunday) is our local carboot day in Northcave and know theirs a guy who deals with mobiles. Got there, thought the phone was in the car but had left it at home – not to worry.
So we’re wondering around, Jo my Mrs buying books she’d wanted, me looking bemused by all the VHS cassettes people are STILL trying to sell and a round trip and I saw a mag stall. Geoff Anderson of Goole (01405-769574) was the pitch holder with 100′s of magazines, mainly cars ones that I could see but was told he has 1000′s of different ones at home!
A selection of Kit Car ones (a good pile of around 50+) caught my eye as I’d just finished a Kit Car Insurance mini site for a mate. The idea instantly popped into my head of reading really old content in mags from as far back as 1985, 1986, 1987 etc and then in my own words (helped by some creative use of the mags) write articles on a new domain I had bought especially for this idea.
How much Geoff? ……….. £3 the box! Wow I’ll take them.
So got home registered the below domain and another project was born ;o).
Kit-Car.org.uk isn’t yet designed or really started but does have a rough text flesh holding page for quick SEO and listings.
My guess is that these old mags will have content, ideas, wording and internet unpublished text in which it will give anyone who reads them great ideas! These mags are 25 years old and maybe out dated but have probably been long forgeotten about and never even heard of SEO.
My first trial is with as mentioned above with Kit-Car.org.uk and will see if it has any impact on rankings for the main phrase “Kit Car” but would expect long tail phrases to be it’s freind like “Cobra kit car replacement lights”.
Another 2 mini sites started today StainlessSteelBBQ.org.uk and GardenHeater.org.uk
